Habeas - Breath Of Fresh Air OUT NOW!!

Habeas is a 27 year old emcee/producer/audio engineer. He does his own production, writing, recording, mixing, and mastering. He started making Hip-Hop music back in 1998 and went to school for audio engineering 10 years later. He sounds like a mix between Atmosphere/Jedi Mind Tricks/Mac Lethal/El-P/Sage Francis/Oh No/The Alchemist/Wu-Tang Clan /Madlib/RJD2/Soul Khan/Aesop Rock all rolled into one person. His music doesn't always fit the usual Hip-Hop guidelines. He's constantly progressing and becoming better with each song. Instead of fitting in the regular guidelines of rap and hip-hop, he's writing his own guidelines, which are very broad and unrestricted. Habeas is considered a vet in his home state of Arizona. He is most recognized as 1/3 of The Natives Are Restless and is also a staff member of the now National Emcee Battle League based out of Tucson, AZ called Voicebox Battles.

This latest project is about Habeas taking the time to make his own solo album. The title track and first single "Breath Of Fresh Air (Gotta Get Away)" explains thoroughly the reasoning behind Habeas creating this solo album. Although the album was made for Habeas's own satisfaction and enjoyment and not someoneone elses, it's basically a guideline for the up and coming rapper on how to make a hip hop album. Each song is very relatable for the 99% of the people in the world and their daily struggles. It's about not giving up and trying your best no matter what challenges are thrown at you. The sound for this album is clearly Boom Bap, Diggin' In The Crates, pure Hip-Hop with multi syllable rhymes schemes and internal rhyme patterns. The lyrics never stray from the topic of the content on each song. It's a "Breath Of Fresh" musically and sonically from all the music industry puppets who lack creative control, it's also a "Breath Of Fresh Air" to help you cope and get away from the stresses of life that sometimes consumes us and makes us claustrophobic.

Habeas - Breath Of Fresh Air (Gotta Get Away) Single

That's right! I am set to release my brand new solo album entirely produced, written, recorded, mixed, and mastered by me in the winter of 2012 or early 2013. This will be my most professional and polished album I have ever done in my 13 years of performing, recording, and making music. What to expect is some of my best productions sonically and beats wise. Every song will have a specific topic or message behind it and every verse and hook will stay on topic to the 'T' for every song through out the whole album! My flow, delivery, rhythm, cadences, and bars will all be on point and symetrical. This has always been my biggest criticism and it's what was seperating me from making classics to making decent songs. I'm making sure to discipline myself and take it to that next level of perfection. My goal with this album is to prove my versatility as a beat maker and a lyricist and still make a quality album that doesn't sound experiemental but at the same time take risks and execute them with perfection. I will be utalizing all my strong points and styles that have grown to be favorites over the years by my commrads and the few fans I've been fourtunate to come across. This may be the last solo project you see from Habeas Corpus for a while depending on the response and how well everything goes. You know all my cards are in on this one and I'm giving this album my 100%! IT'S GOING TO ACTUALLY BE MUSIC PEOPLE CAN FEEL AND NOT JUST BEING ABOUT HOW I HATE OTHER RAPPERS AND HOW DOPE I AM ON THE MIC. IT WILL BE A GOOD BALANCE OF SKILL AS AN EMCEE AND SKILLS IN WRITNG REAL SONGS ABOUT SOMETHING THAT MEANS SOMETHING THAT EVERYONE CAN RELATE TO. The single and title track "Breath Of Fresh Air (Gotta Get Away)" is basically a testimony to why I felt the erge to make a new solo album after a year behind the scenes and just making beats, doing collabs, battling, and recording, mixing and mastering for other artists albums all the way from AZ, VA, to the Bay. This single sets the tone for the rest of the album and lets you know in a very genuine and personal way what drove me to concentrate on my own album, which might be my last solo album depending on the response and success of this project. Otherwise its back to Produceing and Engineering for me! Habeas - Breath Of Fresh Air (Gotta Get Away)

Mr. Miranda "Let's Get On With The Music"

I know I haven't been updating this blog much lately but I haven't been inspired. I could go on and on on that subject so down to business...

The homie Mr. Miranda has a brand new album for you suckers!

If you enjoy albums that you can listen to all the way through than this one is for you. Mr. Miranda's beat selection (all Produced by Jimmy Nelson) has a lot of soul to them and one track in particular (my favorite one on the album) track number 7, "Something Happens" even has a sample from 80's new wave but sounds soulful after Jimmy Nelson (the Producer of the whole album) chops it up, breaks it down and puts it back together. As far as Mr. Miranda's emcee skills, if you enjoy multi-syllable rhyme schemes and patterns, story tracks and lots of sick wordplay than this guy will fit right into your collection of dope hip hop.
This album lacks one thing, a bunch of unnecessary collaboration songs. The album only features 3 different artists aside from Jimmy Nelson and Mr. Miranda. Some how Mr. Miranda got Jaz-O to lend a verse on track 6, "The Game Plan", you know, that one guy that helped get Jay-Z's foot in the door. The song with Jaz-O has a DJ Premier feel to it with scratching on the hook reminiscent of good hip hop music. The title speaks for itself ("The Game Plan") its basically Mr. Miranda breaking down his worth ethic on you. He also has a track with my other homie James Ciphurphace reprsentin' the Land of Two Suns (Tucson, AZ) on track 12, "Don't Wanna Lose Your Love" about how you don't want to forget about why we make music and not sellin' out. Last but not least he has Dina Lopez drop some hypnotic singing vocals over track 14, "Teena" a track about a young single gully mother who does what she has to do to survive.
Even though Mr. Miranda was raised in the streets of Phoenix, AZ in the Southwest region of the country he has a sound reminiscent of 90's Eastcoast hip hop with the thought progression of the 2000's. If you still aren't sold on this album track number 13, "The Kick Off" should close the deal. It all includes wordplay of different sneaker brands involved in a bank robbery. Crazy right? It's like if you took GZA's "Labels" off of Liquid Swords and mixed it with Dead Prez's "Animal Farm" off of "Let's Get Free" and Big L's "The Heist" you'd get "The Kick Off". You can cop "Let's Get On With The Music" here
